At the centre of psychotherapy is the relationship between client and counsellor. I believe each individual has unique needs and experiences that they bring with them and it is important to give each person the space to tell their own story so that we can identify the best approach to working together. As a psychodynamically trained practitioner, I have specialist clinical experience in the treatment of anxiety related to unresolved, suppressed and unprocessed emotions. In our sessions, my aim is to offer a safe and supportive environment where, through dialogue, exploration, and interpretation, we work together to unravel the complexities of your conscious and unconscious understanding of yourself and the world.
Central to my approach is the belief that insight and self-awareness are catalysts for change and by facing underlying unprocessed and unresolved feelings an individual can experience relief and clarity in their lives.
I receive regular supervision and continue to study and keep my skills and knowledge up to date with the latest developments in psychotherapy and psychology.
I have the following qualifications, memberships and experience:
Professional member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Member of the British Psychological Society
MA in Counselling (Distinction)
MA (Hons) in Psychology
Completion of AFT Systemic psychotherapy course at Prudence Skynner Family & Couple Therapy Clinic at Springfield University Hospital
Extensive experience as a counsellor in the NHS, charity and education sector working with adults, adolescents and children.
